"Red Earth", wild deeride handbag and bamboo coral beads
This handbag is made from wild deerhide. It is a unique piece, entirely crafted by my hands in France.
You walk upon the red earth,
following lines no one else can see.
The sage bushes breathe their scent into the warm, dry air.
Deep in your pocket, small stones whisper
as you roll them in your hand —
and from afar, I can hear their song.
In the middle of your forehead, there is a star that shines.
You move forward, free as the wind —
no one will ever hold you still.
Description
The leather of this bag is very soft, supple, and fairly thick.
It can be worn over the shoulder or across the body.
The flap is adorned with coral bamboo beads and a few small turquoise glass beads.
Each side of the bag is fastened with two twisted leather ties that intertwine from top to bottom.
At this point, on one side there is an oblong celadon-colored porcelain bead, and on the other, a faceted coral bamboo bead. These ties hang gracefully from each side of the bag; one of them is decorated with a small round sterling silver bead from New Mexico.
The stitching of the strap is embellished with coral bamboo beads, small turquoise glass beads, and turquoise heishi beads.
The strap is attached to the back of the bag with a leather tie, ending in fringes—one of which is adorned with a genuine Arizona turquoise.
The long tie decorating the strap is finished with coral bamboo beads.
This bag is unlined; it comes in its own natural cotton pouch bearing its name, also sewn by my hands. It is recommended to store it in this pouch to help preserve it.
